Professor Thomas Berger
Thomas Berger is Professor of Neurology and Chair of Neurology at the Medical University of Vienna since November 2018. He previously held the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Neurology at the Medical University of Innsbruck.
Professor Berger's research focus is on neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis. He has acted as Principal Investigator of more than 70 clinical (multicentre) therapeutic trials in multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica and identified numerous immunopathogenic subtypes and biological markers. He has also implemented and coordinated the Austrian MS Therapy Registry and the Austrian Neuromyelitis Optica database.
Professor Berger`s research objectives are to develop personalized strategies in the diagnosis, prognosis and therapy of neurological diseases including in areas such as stroke, dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders, neuro-oncological diseases, and migraine.
