Dr. Rebecca Maguire
Dr. Rebecca Maguire is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Maynooth University. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Psychology, Rebecca completed her MA and Ph.D. in Cognitive Science at University College Dublin. She is currently involved in a number of projects examining the quality of life of people with chronic illness and their caregivers and has a particular interest in how cognitive appraisals and representations of health can influence people's wellbeing when coping with illness. More recently, she has begun to investigate how this work may be applied in the context of MS. This has also been motivated by her own personal experience of living with the MS. Rebecca's current research agenda is oriented towards discovering ways in which the quality of life in people with MS and their family members may be enhanced. She is also interested in exploring how best to foster greater PPI (Public and Patient Involvement) in MS research and has recently joined the board of MS Ireland.
