Fred Horne
Fred Horne is Principal of Horne and Associates, Health Policy Consultants, and served as Alberta’s Minister of Health from 2011-2014. He is also currently Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta’s School of Public Health.
His career in health policy spans over thirty years and includes experience in policy development and coordination, health system design and transformation, and stakeholder engagement. He began his career as a community health planner, and he has worked extensively with provincial governments, and national and international research and stakeholder organizations across Canada and abroad.
Horne holds an MBA from Royal Roads University and York University’s Certificate in Dispute Resolution. He currently serves on a number of boards in the not-for-profit and private sectors, including as Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (chair), the Canadian Faculty Network and the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement.
