Yaw Asante Awuku

Prof. Awuku is a consultant gastroenterologist at the School of Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana.

A Ghanaian national, Prof.Awuku received a BSC in Human Biology and MBChB from School of Medical Sciences- Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research and Evidence-Based Medicine and Anti- Retroviral Therapy at the Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium. He underwent a WGO Clinical Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa. He has successfully completed the World Endoscopy Organisation’s emerging star programme.

He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is a World Endoscopy Organization Star and currently President of Ghana Association for the Study of Liver and Digestive Diseases(GASLIDD) and the Vice president Hepatitis Society of Ghana. In parallel to his work at Euracare, he is a consultant gastroenterologist and Head, Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, School of Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, Ghana.
